The Horace Greeley Writers' Symposium, held each year in Poultney, Vermont, is a celebration of Horace Greeley's life. The symposium explores the art of writing as presented by publishers and writers in the fields of literature, poetry, philosophy, and history.
We are excited to announce the 2oth Annual Horace Greeley Writers' Symposium will take place on Saturday, October 15th, 2022 at the United Baptist Church on the beautiful East Poultney Green.
This year'skeynote speaker is novelist and writing coach John DeDakis is a former editor on CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. He is the author of five mystery-suspense novels. His fourth novel, Bullet in the Chamber, is the winner of Reviewers Choice, Foreword INDIES, and Feathered Quill book awards.
Coleen Murtagh Paratore will return to speak at the symposium. Paratore is an awardwinning, best-selling author of more than twenty books, across multiple genres including picture books, middle grade novels, and memoir, with major publishers Simon & Schuster and Scholastic Press, as well as two self-published titles.
Adam Krakowski will also present at the symposium. Krakowski is a fine arts conservator who has worked at museums, historical societies, art galleries and restoration firms all over New York and New England. Adam authored or co-authored three books focused on Vermont’s complicated history with alcohol including Vermont Prohibition. He writes for Yankee Brewing News, a brewing industry newspaper, and contributes to other regional and national publications. In 2010, he was the recipient of the Weston Cate Jr. Research Fellowship from the Vermont Historical Society.
